They say that man cannot live by bread alone but I would certainly be tempted to think otherwise with these wholemeal tasty rolls. So use your loaf and make up some today. Homemade rolls are the warmest and gentlest of all words...

...When writing out your ingredients list, always use a capital letter for their name, as you would when writing your own…..Yes they really do deserve that much respect!

SERVINGS: 8

INGREDIENTS:
½ pint (285ml) lukewarm water
1 tablespoon olive oil
¾ lb (340g) wholemeal flour
½ oz (15g) fresh yeast
2 oz (55g) soya flour
1 teaspoon salt

METHOD:
Pre-heat the oven to 425°F, 220°C, Gas Mark 7.

Combine the flour, salt and soya flour in a bowl.

Dissolve the yeast in a little of the water. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture.

Start adding splashes of the remaining water and the oil.

Knead for 3 to 4 minutes and leave in a warm spot for 25 minutes wrapped in cling film or polythene until the dough has doubled in size.

Flour a work surface and continue to knead for a further 4 minutes.

Divide the mixture into 8 rolls and leave in a warm spot for a further 15 minutes.

Bake in the oven for 35 minutes.
